A Little History

Jan Van Eyck

I am of the mindset that when making decorating choices, going with a little history can’t hurt.  When you can go back hundreds of years to gather that history, perhaps that makes the choice that much stronger.  Enter Van Eyck’s Wedding picture.  In the background we can see a convex, or fish eye, mirror.  Not a bad way to add a little light and a focal point, either in paint or reality.

Convex mirrors come in a range of styles.  To the left is a so-called Hollywood Regency style for only $10 on eBay!  On the right, a more traditional version from Interior Mall.

A grouping would be nice of, say, three similarly framed mirrors or one single mirror of a nice size.
